History:

Digby’s Detective & Security Agency, Inc. was established in 1979 by Founders Robert L. Digby and Christine Digby. Robert L. Digby was a retired Chicago Police Lieutenant, who led the company until his passing in 2009.

Digby’s is now led by the second generation of the Digby family in the person of Lenita Digby Williams.

In the 40 years since our founding, Digby’s has been:

  • Vetted and accepted by the Federal Government as a GSA Schedule contractor for security services;
  • Selected to secure Olympic events, World Cup matches, and events related to national political party conventions;
  • Recognized by DHS as a Certified Security Contractor;
  • Certified as a DBE by the Illinois Universal Certification Program (IL UCP) and by the City of Chicago;
  • Certified by the Illinois State Police to provide Live-Scan Fingerprint services;

The Illinois Department of Financial & Professional Regulations (IDFPR) has certified Digby’s Academy as a training school for armed and unarmed security personnel.

Our Leadership

Lenita Digby Williams – President

Lenita Digby Williams is an innovative and trusted leader with a broad range of expertise and proven success in systems optimization, strategic sales, marketing solutions, finance, legal and human resources. Lenita determines the strategic direction of the company to drive brand recognition, increase corporate valuation and develop comprehensive planning through analytical research, critical thinking and focused strategies. As the holder of Digby’s Private Security Contractor, Private Detective and Fingerprint Vendor licenses, Lenita’s oversight ensures that Digby’s remains in compliance with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations.

Her leadership has been a key catalyst of the growth of Digby’s and of Digby’s being selected to receive the prestigious World Business Chicago’s CASE program 2015 Business of the Year award. In 2017, the Chicago Defender also recognized Lenita personally as a “Woman of Excellence”.

Lenita holds a Master of Business Administration from DePaul University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration from Clark Atlanta University.

Ken Robinson – General Manager

Kenneth Robinson is a forward thinking and cost-effective executive with a proven track record of continuous success in leading/managing financial processes, operations, consulting, developing teams, and executing/implementing strategic business solutions. His role at Digby’s involves working closely with the leadership team to develop and execute strategies for all aspects of the company. He is an integral part of Digby’s continuous improvement initiatives for service delivery and manages various financial functions that support and ensure quality service to our clients.

Before joining Digby Detective and Security Agency as General Manager, Kenneth served as Director of Nonprofit & Foundation Banking for Urban Partnership Bank (UPB), where he had P/L responsibility for one-third of the bank’s revenues. He sits on the Board of Directors of The Converge Cornerstone Loan Fund and The Chicagoland Christian Sports Conference. He also served on the Board of Trustees for The DuSable Museum of African American History and as Chairman of the Audit Committee.

Ken holds a Bachelor degree in Economics from Florida A&M University and received his MBA degree from Northwestern University‘s Kellogg Graduate School of Management. Ken joined Digby’s in 2017.

Earl Smith – Director of Operations

Earl Smith has over 35 years of security senior level management experience and is known for his expertise, integrity, and high service standards. He has a proven track record of implementing innovative strategies and procedures that promote efficiencies while substantially increasing security effectiveness.

Earl directs and oversees the planning, directing and coordinating of day-to-day operational activities of over 300 employees. Earl is authorized to act on behalf of the Corporation to commit corporate resources to meet Digby’s client commitments.

Prior to joining Digby’s, Earl held various administrative and command positions and has extensive experience managing large-scale employee populations along with the training and operational requirement that supports large organizations. Earl joined Digby’s in 1981.
